Newbie Questions

Just a bunch of newbie questions:

(1) (i) Are there any 15926 example materials wiith schemas in EXPRESS and example data in STEPfiles? (ii) Have any commercial organizations made materials they actually use available? (iii) Is the EXPRESS/STEP side of 15926 actively used and developed?

(2) Part 7 is pretty new (at time of writing Oct-2006) - and while OWL seems like a logical step for making 15926 more broadly accessible, (i) are there any commercial organizations actively using the OWL/XML for live projects yet? (ii) Is there any real-world data from such projects currently available to use for benchmarking? (iii) Are there any data sets that can be used for compliance testing?

(3) Is there a simple transformation from the original EXPRESS schemas described in the ISO15926 part 1 to the OWL schemas, or are they semantically different?

Primarily, I'm looking for the sort of data that I can use for compliance testing and benchmarking, in both OWL and STEP; but also, some idea of where the current industry focus is in the 15926 world.

As a bit of background, we have a solution for parsing STEPfiles in concert with supporting EXPRESS schemas into an RDF triple store and are using SPARQL for mining the ontology for information that can be exposed in our products, but we need real world data to 'prove' the solution before we decide if/how to incorporate it into our broader systems.

Any advice would be much appreciated,

Julian Bourne.

Minutes from FIATECH ADI open meeting 14Jun2006

-=FIATECH ADI Project Open Meeting=-
June 14, 2006
Teleconference + online presentation

__FIATECH ADI status__

Performed presentations:

* FIATECH spring meeting, 8-10 May 2006, Scottsdale (Phoenix) Arizona

3 presentations about ISO 15926 and ADI were given, 2 by Bentley and 1 by the ADI team. The ADI project was very well received.

* PELC 2006, 7 June 2006, The Hague, Netherlands

The ADI project was presented. The attention was moderate. However, in the plant data lifecycle trajectory the FIATECH ADI project was mentioned (positively) in every presentation. After the seminar feedback from the audience was strong and positive.

__Meeting at Shell__ – 8 June 2006, Headquarters The Hague, Netherlands
* Cooperation with PROLIST established (class library for instruments). A problem was their business model preventing to open up the Prolist class library and product models. The meeting has suggested Prolist to put that part in the public domain which they will present to their management.
* Cooperation with ICAAMC established (class library for compressors). Intension taht Library will be merged to ISO 15926 part 4 and live there.
* Reviewed status “Wilmington” agreement (interoperability meeting, Dupont, August 2005), conclusion was that many action items were indeed concluded or started.
* Reviewed status integration standards methodologies. A first comparison was made between ISO 15927 all parts and Gellish. It’s still under debate if more comparisons are really required.
* Reviewed status ISO Maintenance Agency ad-hoc committee. Awaiting minutes of meeting for the conclusion: a technical requirements package for the MA tender must be produced. Mark Palmer requested notification as soon as schedule on this is known.

-> OWL Representation of ISO 15926

__Filled the http://15926.org with content__. The knowledge base has to grow further during the project.

__Started Ontology Browser and Façade software__. Ongoing development. Started first definition of a set of required templates.

__Training given__ – ISO 15926 Overview
