CFIHG

General description of the CFIHG Phase 2 project for FIATECH

This project is collaborating with other industry organizations to develop information handover guidelines for the major sectors of the capital facilities industries.

Building on the principles described in the Capital Facilities Information Handover Guidelines, Part 1, this project is initiating guides for the General Buildings sector and for the Process Facilities sector. General Buildings include: Commercial Offices, Retail, Distribution & Warehouses, Multi-Unit Residential, Health Care, Entertainment, Religious & Cultural, Hotels, Motels, Convention Centers, Government Offices, Education, Sports, and Correctional Facilities.

The Guide for Process Facilities will be developed in cooperation with the new FIATECH project, Accelerating Deployment of Life Cycle Integration Technologies using ISO 15926. This project is designed to improve the current situation where organizations specify different requirements for structuring the delivery of project information, requiring EPCs to spend extra resources to comply with these unique requirements, and thereby adding extra costs to the delivery of capital projects.

The Capital Facilities Information Handover Guidelines provide a framework for the consistent definition and delivery of information packages to be transferred among participants in capital facilities projects.

The Capital Facilities Information Handover Guide, Part 1 is available. The pdf file is available on NIST's CIBP web site at:

http://cic.nist.gov/staff/publications.html listed under the name: Mark Palmer.

Work is starting on Part 2s for two industry sectors: General Buildings and Process Plants. NIST, in collaboration with Architecture, Engineering and Construction companies, owners and industry initiatives, including FIATECH, have started work on the General Building Information Handover Guide.

FIATECH is starting work on the Process Plant Information Handover Guide as part of a new project, “Accelerating Deployment of ISO 15926 (ADI)".

If you are interested in participating in either or both of these efforts, please contact me.
