The design case is the process data case that is governing for the design.
If no case is given, but just process data, that is implicitly the design case. However, sometimes the process engineer cannot say what the governing case is, because for some process data one case is governing, for other process data another one. In that situation all cases must be exchanged from the process database to the other disciplines.
